Been talking with a couple people about battlesphere lately and I've also been playing it a lot more.
I'm contemplating taking the plunge and actually trying to read through all 70 pages of this thread laugh.gif
Now I need to know all I can about the game. There should be a Battlesphere section in the wiki.

Yep, i've never played it.................. was on the waiting list when the original BS came out but when time came to pay i had no funds and passed my copy along to another person sad.gif

Well...... anyone happen to have a regular copy of BS for sale with the box and instructions and all?????? i know thats a highly asked question here and i know that there wont be another run of the game ever for reasons everyone already knows. just wanna play this thing thats all... smile.gif

I swear I'm gonna start a "Kindly stfu about Battlesphere already cos I'm sooooooo jealous I don't have it" society some day soon, lol!

Seriously, I wish I had of been into Jaguar back when Battlesphere was originally available as I'd have put my name down straight away as I have done for pretty much everything since being on the scene, e.g. Painter SE, BI/WN rev.23, Jaguar Press Conference DVD, JS-II t-shirts, Skunkboard rev.2 etc. I'm insanely envious, in a nice way, of those who own the game and not simply because of its value as a collectors item. Reading various sources here, in printed media and elsewhere on the 'net describing it as a/the title that genuinely seeks to wring every last ounce out of Jaguar's true potential makes me dizzy. Yes, I've watched the vids on Youtube etc but as is the case for most games it never really reflects the interactive nature of "being there".

To be honest, whenever a Battlesphere Gold cart has surfaced for sale since owning Jaguar I've wrestled with paying out what it'd take to snag it. An approximate current market value for a CIB Battlesphere Gold would be in the region of US$600 (please feel free to correct me if that's inaccurate) from what I can determine. Without at all wishing to sound arrogant, affording that wouldn't be an issue but I simply can't within my own mind justify to myself paying what amounts to approximately Ģ450 for a video game. I guess if I happened to be part of the SNK Neo Geo AES scene then such a sum would maybe be small potatoes but...

I guess I'm just trying to say how cool it is that Jaguar has such an exclusive title in existence (it does add a certain kudos, let's be honest) and I'm happy for those who get to experience Jaguar at its best. I just wish that I one day get to see and/or play it someplace. I guess a future JagFest UK would represent my best hope...

I've read this whole thread!

I found this BattleSphere development history interesting(scroll down a little and you'll see a grip of BS dev info):

http://web.archive.org/web/20060811155627/...rarchivea-b.asp

It's from Addie's Atari Page - (no longer on the internet) which has a lot of Jag info on it you don't really see elsewhere:

I read this thread in 15-20 page chunks over several nights - there is some good information here and not too much off topic content.

Glad you like Addie's Atari Page - thanks to the Internet Archive Organization you can still see it, they have a web page crawler but some site owners/webmasters choose to not have their site archived.

Been playing alot of Battlesphere since the first of the year, especially this month. Just started some gauntlet last night, usually preferring alone against the empires. AAtE always reminds me of my youth, wasting hours playing StarMaster on my old 2600, probably why I play it so much. Gotta love nostalgia. Been having a blast with gauntlet though.
LS650
I have been playing a lot of BattleSphere lately as well... I`m still puzzling over what the heck the Norad codes are all about.
ovalbugmann
We may never know, as BattleSphere doesn't give up it's secrets easily.
captainzoli
Or maybe we just haven't been paying close enough attention.

Battlesphere definately is during the top 5 games on any system period... well, in my personal opinion (but if more people would own a copy they would have the same opinion) wink.gif There are so many secrets and the soundtrack blows me away... itīs epic! I read sowewhere a review where it was told that it is a good game but not worth the >350 bucks you have to pay... well, to be honest, it is worth every cent! (I got mine relatively cheap, so itīs easy for me to say so)

At the OFAM (http://ofam.freehost.vg) last year I finally had the opportunity to play it networked... Would be great if thatīd be possible via internet one day (just dreaming)...

Excellent game for an excellent system!

Hey you guys!!!

It's amazing how much time flies. I am back here once more to alert you that I will again be participating in the Tour de Cure to help fight diabetes! It seems like I just did this a short time ago! There's one week to go before I will be doing it all over again!

This year I will be with the same team, but they've changed the route. We will be riding in Saratoga Springs, NY for the first time. It should be a fun changeup!

I understand that times are rough at the moment, but I would really appreciate it if you could think about helping me in my fight against this awful disease which has touched so many of our familes and our friends. If you would like to assist, please go to my fund raising website and do what you can to assist. My page is at the following link:

http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR?pg=person...&px=2829988

Just click on the button to sponsor me, it's as simple as that.

Thank you for all your support!

You have a donation T. It's not a lot, but i did what i can for now. (funds are a tad low)

Keep up the fight man! cool.gif

Okay you guys!

Tomorrow is the big day!!!! It looks like good weather, so I'm getting excited!!! Wish me luck!!!

Sadly, I'm a little shy of my fund raising goal this time around. There's not a whole lot of time left. If any of you guys were thinking of donating and were putting it off well you're down to the 11th hour now. But there is still time!

http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR?pg=person...&px=2829988

You can still make a tax deductible contribution to help fight Diabetes!

Come on you guys!!!

Thanks to everyone who helps!!! You guys rock!

It was a while back obviously, but I'm pretty sure that 4Play was taking pre-orders (God knows they needed the money) mainly to find out how many to make. Then again, I guess I could be wrong, and had sent cash to some stranger. I hope that's not the case, because at least if 4Play received my money, I can believe that I contributed to a very worthy cause.

Sorry to give you bad news, but 4Play never EVER took pre-order money for any products.

There are many people here who can confirm that we rejected that policy.

I believe you, and I'm glad I hadn't sent the rest of the money! Though I wish I had found out the correct way to get a copy, because I had been following the development for a while and was hearing everyone talk about how great it was going to be. So I guess that's the overriding emotion that I have. Honestly, I hadn't even thought about it for so long... and it's just part of all these memories resurfacing since I'm just now rediscovering my Jaguar collection.

Tempest2k
I want BS too, but is too expensive.
Now im Waiting, waiting, waiting xD

Yeah, the holy grail of all Jag-games. I hope to own it soon, and after buying BS all other games i miss in my collection are just peanuts.
CD-i
as i said often over @nexgam: it's worth it...
LynxGod
Its not worth the money at all.

We had BS Gold on at JFUK in a room of about 20 people and not one of them thought the game was all that. Personal opinion I guess, there are far better games on the Jag (which can be had alot cheaper)
LS650
Huh. Opinions differ I guess; I think it's a terrific space shooter!
evisu
Ok, around 300 - 500 USD is really a lot of money for just a videogame. Thatīs true. But fortunately the Jag has just one of game which is so expensive (except Skycopter and Speedster...but these are really games? rolleyes.gif ). If i look to the SNK or Nintendo NES section, there are some games for more than 10.000 USD. And these games are much poorer.

Itīs sometimes really hard to explain, why we buy a TOWERS II for around 70 USD, if you can get a so much better Oblivion for around 10 USD. Cause we are fraeks laugh.gif

The Jaguar is a really thankful system for collectors. A really manageable amount of games, just one high prize game, a lot of really good games, some exclusive productions.

Thatswhy (and course it seems to be a really nice game) i think BS is worth to buy IMO.
