Yeah and put it this way: that's the lowest amount i have ever payed for any of my Battlesphere's.

That shrinkwrapped ICD AirCars was even less (same seller). Got it for only $70 (and was the only bidder)! SS4U must have been pulling his hair out at missing both of those auctions! laugh.gif

Will he shut down the Yahoo Groups? I'm hoping so because it's a shame that the Atari Group fell into the hands of the one who turned it into a commercial for his own crap.

Hey Gorf, thanks for the backup on that other forum where I can't respond.

Funny how the douchebags come out of the woodwork every time I try and do something for charity. Let's see these guys do anything positive. Why do they even bother?

Seriously, if I donate a game to charity, what reason do they have to say anything? If the roles were reversed they would be the next incarnation of SS4U.

Anyhow, tell the guy who asked that I don't claim any tax deductions on these things so the generous recipient can.

I do it once a year with a couple carts. Thanks for the kind words. I'm just keeping our promise to turn over all BattlsSphere Profits to charity according to the deal we made to get the Jaguar made into an "open" system.

It's a good feeling to help others, so it was worth it.

I heard something about someone whining over on another forum but I guess the moderators deleted the topic he was complaining in. Seems like some people have their priorities mixed up.
Bob
I'm sure this has been asked before....
but why hasn't this been released on CD if it was so expensive/hard to find the chips to release on a cart?
ovalbugmann
Multi-Jag BS networking, running unencrypted programs(bypassing encryption) and and some other features wouldn't work with a CD version, not to mention.... piracy. You should read this whole thread smile.gif and/or search BattleSphere in the JS2 main forum and the Jaguar section on Atariage - some interesting stuff.

Welcome to Jaguar Sector II! biggrin.gif
Bob
So is this game ever going to be available (on any platform) again, or should I foreget about it?

CD games have to load into the RAM inside the Jaguar to run, as the CD drive has no code RAM added for the Jag to use. BattleSphere™ uses so much internal RAM for graphics and sound processing buffers that there's not any room left over to store the program code if it were loaded from CD.
brendandwc
its also worth noting there were not cd bypass carts just laying around when battlesphere was being made. The scene has gotten extremely more friendly to jaggy game developers.

4play went to extreme measures to get this cart usuable on normal jaguars. Anyone remember the room full of jaguars Tbird had so the cart could be encrypted? It was pretty impressive, nice to have a normal cart instead of the hardware work around that is in the songbird releases.

Hmm, no, I don't think there is one anywhere.
I hope you didn't pay the "Battlesphere Gold in COMPLETE condition" price if you didn't even get the manual.
Maybe you could ask Thunderbird if there's anything he could do to help you out.
I know there are enough people who have it who could do some scans, but it shouldn't be done without the blessing of the scatalogic team.

Did you get the two CDs that came with BattleSphere Gold? The "Demo CD" & the "JUGS CD?" If so, have a looksy at the directories on the JUGS CD - There is a full color manual on there, which is better than the black & white one that comes with BS.

If you don't have the JUGS CD, then we must wait for Thunderbird to reply here and see what he could do for you. If it's OK somebody could just email you the manual file off the JUGS CD probably.

Unless you're embarrassed to say how much you got it for, no one minds hehe. But if it starts with a 2 and has 2 more digits after, it's probably still a pretty good deal even without the manual.
