Scatbox Deluxe eh? Is this something new?

Nope. Regular version came in a black cart and the Deluxe edition in a transparent shell.

We had an eight player BS network at the first JFUK using a combination of catboxes (3) & Jaglink2 (4) & scatbox (1) Also had the same with Aircars & had a no real problems with that either.

IT appears there are chips (or connections?) on the outside of the shell...

Connectors; the two Jaguar linking ports, RS232C & 4 line phone type of link for the Jaglink. smile.gif

Haven't got there yet sad.gif but the wheels are in motion rocker.gif I don't know where I will end up but my hope is for Halifax, NS. Not too big, not too small & just enough to keep your social life kicking. My GF lives in Saint John NB, so the road trip is about 4 hours or 45 mins by plane laugh.gif Its great having someone over there to help with stuff. I am just a bit bummed that I probably wont get there til October when (hopefully) I get to sit my exams blink.gif Plan on taking a road trip to Boston to celebrate by seeing some NHL action cobracon.gif The one thing that keeps me going is the amount of game shows I get to take the VR too! 4 weeks til Bochum in Germany, Paris in April, maybe the Czech Republic in May, italy in June/July, JFUK in October? And then hopefully Australia in early 2009!! Then off for new life in Canada!!

In BattleSphere Classic: Why does the same ship, used in different modes, vary in the amount of enemy hits it can take before shields give out and hull gets compromised and my ship blows up? I've played Free-For-All, and Guantlet, and Training modes a lot but, AATE the least. I want to start playing AATE more now.

I've been using the "Ajax" O'Catanut Supership, (it has a high shields rating) in Guantlet and it can take a shitload of enemy hits before the shields give out, but play that same ship in AATE and after 5 or so hits I'm out of shields? I think I noticed a difference between Training and Free-For-All shields strength too.

So why the difference in shields strength with the same ship, but in different modes??

I want to start playing AATE extensively, but even on "trainee" level I die much quicker than in Guantlet & FFA.
ovalbugmann
Ok, was thinking about it and, if you only have to clear enemies from all the sectors in the entire quadrant, one time (all the green ships displayed on the galactic map) only, and then the game ends and you receive your ranking - then lower strength shields in AATE may be a balancing measure since you have to kill far fewer ships in AATE than in other modes???
ovalbugmann
Of course AATE features the ability to dock with a starbase and have a repair droid fix your hull, that's always good. biggrin.gif

Because we tone down laser strength with decreasing AI level as part of playbalancing...

You're not imagining things...

I see now smile.gif , I think,... enemy laser strength is directly tied to enemy AI level. So once I get used to a ship like the Ajax supership or any other, I can know the level of AI I'm playing against by how fast my shields are going down per enemy laser hit on my craft.

So even though I am starting on trainee in AATE, the AI is/seems much higher than say the first fifteen to twenty levels on Guantlet.

Is this correct?
ovalbugmann
The amount my shields go down per enemy hit on me, would probably also depend on, AI as has been stated, and/or whether I get hit by a supership or an ejected pilot - the laser intensity inherit in various enemy vehicles, right? I think. tongue.gif

Just think of it as "when the levels get higher, the enemies get smarter and their lasers get more powerful"

Just played Battlesphere Gold again for the first time in some month and remembered that I wanted to ask something since I got it actually. Is there any reason the "cursor" colour flashes from orange to blue and back again every ten seconds? I always thought it is a good idea to highlight the selected option because the dark blue is sometimes hard to read against black, but why does it flash back to blue. Was there some intention. Doug, Scott?

Fiddling around with some codes I found an interesting behaviour of my energy. First the laser count starts garbled and then counts down then my energy drains completly and the first ship that fires at me kills me. That was weird. Oh and I found the little pilot again who controls the flashing starbase hehe, forgot about that...fun memories...

I'm lost regarding what "cursor" you mean. Depending on what you mean it could be any of several different screens.

Also, we never said the codes were foolproof. They're just debugging tools we left in for you guys to have fun with. It is possible to set things to illegal values and make it behave oddly. That should be considered part of the "fun". :-)

It is in different screens.I meant the screens with the dark background and stars where for example in free for all you can select the difficulty, number of ships, respawn time and so on. Or in gauntlet number of bases and difficulty etc.
If I go up and down on the options the cursor is highlighted. That's what I was referring to. Let's say the number of ships. So there is a 15. This number changes from the blue in which everything else is written on to some organge and back to blue. I just thought that it was odd it woud flash back to blue and not stay different since that makes you know where you actually are. It is nothing important just saw it again and asked myself if there was some purpose.

Yes it is interesting to see the game behave in strange ways using the codes. I just forgot about some stuff that can happen.

By the way talking about codes...when do we get to know what's up with that codes no one knows what they do? And what about that other shiptype I once read you talked about which is still undiscovered? I guess after the big raid for codes has come to some halt for the last few years we could use a hint or two ;-)
Peter
Oh and what happened to the video of the BS trio intro? I thought Williard gave his ok to post it or did I miss something? Would be really interesting to see what you did with that. Since we can't own it, it would be sure nice to see what it looks like at least :-)

Are you sure your monitor is adjusted correctly? The highlighted items on those menus use a pulsating flashing color cycle to show which one is highlighted. It doesn't tunr one color and back to the original color (unless you move off and onto another menu item).

No actually I am not sure;-) But strange since I never seemed to have other problems with colours. Alright then I somehow just see the two colours and no change in between those. Well have to check it again and play around with the settings of the tv. Again it is not a real problem but caught my attention, interesting to hear that there is indeed happening something...

Anyway, I've posted an article there relating to apparently getting 360's fixed more quickly if that helps anybody.

All this trouble (with everything) caused by a bunch of lazy douchebags in europe who couldn't be trusted to recycle their electronics so they made it illegal to use lead in the solder of any new products produced so when they tossed their old hardware in a landfill the lead wouldn't get into the environment.

Now everyone has to use metal in their solder that doesn't really work well at all and electronics failures are way up, especially on complex items that get a lot of heat during use.

A few 360 owning neighbors of mine eventually switched to PS3's because of those problems with the overheating over and over again.

Out of the five 360 consoles that i have right now, only one has red-ringed (and that was a launch unit) all the others are going great. Apparently the problem has been resolved with the Elite units, but the others are still influenced by M$'s Russian-roulette chipset.
