Any news on the Battlesphere Movie?

It's much closer than it was last week. I got a little DVD recorder and it has an S-Video input that (once I get it figured out) can capture video from the Jag.

I was going to do it with my capture card in my PC, but I have a bunch of fragile experimental video drivers installed for specific reasons and they don't support video capture. I don't dare try and change it because it took forever to get the environment configured the way it is now, and I'm quite afraid of breaking it.

I will soon just be able to capture it on DVD and then load it in the PC that way.

Sounds like a plan. Looking forward to it.

The screen dump feature is disabled in the intro screens because of memory restrictions.

There is an auction for a JUGS package on eBay right now, can JUGS be used without the Battlesphere GOLD cartridge? I guess this is from the buyjugs.com website that was up at one time before Thunderbird stopped selling all ScatoLOGIC stuff. If there is a CD in the baggie is it for the computer or the Jaguar? Did T-bird use regular ziplock baggies as pictured? I am considering bidding on this so if anyone knows the answers to these questions please let me know here. Thanks.

T-bird is no longer with us. sad.gif

JUGS eBay auction

MegaData
My JUGS DD Version 1.01 Compact Disc which came with BattleSphere™ Gold and also works with the original BattleSphere™ comes in a plain white sleeve that has a circular plasic section to see the CD inside the sleeve. Perhaps this is an earlier version? I would ask for photos of the printed CD. It should give a Version number at least. It shouldn't mention some off the shelf CDR name either. The CD goes into the PC to work with the cartridges mentioned above... using a JagLink cable from the COM port to the DSP port on the back of the Jaguar. It works similar to BJL with Protector... which probably explains one of the secret games named in BattleSphere Gold. biggrin.gif

Doubtful ScatoLOGIC ever used ziploc baggies. They had high quality products well worth their original price.
ovalbugmann
Thanks MegaData, I'll have to ask the guy for some pics of it.

More importantly ZB said it so it MUST eb true!

These guys think it bothers me when their tiny voices are drowned out by the positive reviews from people who are unbiased.

ovalbugmann
ZB on AA is a SOB, he does sound biased, very negative towards BS, I wonder what his beef is against it?, I said it's a great game and he basically told me I don't know what a good game is because he catagorized me as a console only gamer, therefore I don't what a good game is.

I could have said; well you know what they say about opinions - their like assholes every one's got one pal. laugh.gif but I didn't want to feed into his negativity and start a flame war so I just explained I have games on the PC also.

He said he's played it, so it's not like he's mad about not ever having a copy.

This has been going on for many years now. There's not much we can do about it.

There are probably many motivations behind the negativity. Some are just resentful that the game was successful and someone other than them has a tiny smidgen more fame than they have, so they try and sabotage the popularity of the game. Others are people who just like to incite flames, and they found a hot topic, sure to cause an eruption. Others are just people who have been slapped down by myself or Oppressor over the years and now they bear a grudge.

In any case, it's mostly sour grapes and obviously contribed complaints about the game. All subjective and difficult to prove. You'll notice a LOT of popular games have these kinds of "I don't know why this sucky game is so popular" detractors.

There's also a segment of bashers who are mad because they see the game as a "cash cow" and when our efforts to stop the gravy train failed, we stopped selling them. This pissed them off and now they bash us over it. The high prices these games fetch on ebay attracts a constant stream of "new" gold-diggers who learn the history and join in the bashing.

It sucks to sell a game and make a few dollars for charity, only to see the buyer sell it on ebay the next day for hundreds of dollars profit.

What can you do?

It's amusing watching Scott fence with Zylonbane over on AA. I wish he would have pressed more for an answer to why he feels the need to drone on and on about it so many years later. Based on his reasoning he should have moved on years ago, yet every time the subject comes up he's right there flapping his gums about the same tired old criticisms... many of which are nonsense like the differences between BS and Star Raiders HUD.

His bashing of our networking shows he is completely biased against the game for some reason because people by a huge margin find the networked modes to be the most enjoyable.

Oh well, another mind suffering from Atrophy-Age™.
