Well I walked down to my local game store today and as I was looking around I spotted a Neo Geo Cdz on the wall for 300 bucks. I thought to myself "I already have a Neo Geo, I don't need a CDZ" But in the end I just couldn't help myself and I bought it. So now I need some suggestions for some good games for the Neo Geo CD and I also need advice on how to care for my Cdz since I have no idea how to handle SNK systems. Luckily my Neo Geo AES has been pretty easy to handle so far biggrin.gif

$300 you over paid sorry to say. Only the front loader system is the rare one which goes fro about 200-250. The CDZ usualy goes for 175-200 tops.

As for care intrusions its just like any other CD system. Nothing special. You do want to watch out for the AC adapter plug in on the back as they are very fragile. Other than that I would do the unlock region mod on it if its not already unlocked. If your handy with a soldiering Iron it should only take you a min or so. If its NTSC US region and in some cases Euro a lot of games are censored vs the Japanese region setting. All games are region free so whats censored or not is based off the region code the system presents to the game at load up.

One really big thing to be aware of is the joypads its the most common problem with the CD systems. If your using arcade sticks then your probably ok. But on the joypads over time the d pad will build up plastic dust between the contacts from the grinding of the plastic bevel this over time will actually block the contact ad you will lose that direction. Its easy to fix but you have to be careful when taking it apart not to over bend the contact points. Here is a youtube video that shows you how to do it.

As for games there was onlya very few that were cd only.

Def pick up the Samuri Shodown RGP its awesome. If you cant read Japanese there are a tone of walk throughs online.

Other than that

Go for the classics if you dont alreayd have them
King of Fighter
Wolrd Heros
View Point
Magician Lord
Metal Slug all
Baseball Star
Blues Journey
Ghost Pilot
Pulstar

Of course these are just my favorite's. The CDZ is the best unit as it has a shorter loading time due to a larger catch. But it does get hot especially after using it for a while. So be careful not to let get to hot as its been reported to kill the system. I keep min in the box and just use the old regular CD top loader its more reliable as far as heat goes. So its really a trade off.

Hope this helps in some way or another

The answer requires to many variables. Best advice just keep an eye on it. Check it every 30 mins or so. I have also seen people hook up an exhaust fan to it like the one here
http://www.laptoptoys.net/images/a_evercoo...ed_view_pic.jpg
Which draws out hot air from inside the case

I dont think you should worry to much about it that your afraid to enjoy your system. I wouldn't expect an hour or so of play to over heat your system. When i first got mine it was the CDZ and i would play it for 2-3 hours at a time till I picked up a Top loader cd system of ebay super cheap now its the only one hooked up and the CDZ is put away. So from my experience 2-3 hours I had no problems. Of course it will vary from system to system. Also its best to keep the system in an open air location and not in one of those cramped entertainment centers. So just keep an eye on it. If the case feels hot on the bottom then you know its time to turn it off.
