YEAH, I'VE SEEN...
Retr0bright before, but not being too savvy with chemicals and mixtures etc, haven't really done a great deal aside reading about it. It says in the article that PPL are attempting to sell pre-mixed containers of it via eBay, which, although unideal in terms of being shipped, is ideal for me. However, the fact that these guys have stated that they have no involvement, actually puts me off a little, as they REALLY sound like they know what they're on about here. Thus, I'd much rather buy it from them! smile.gif

Oh well...

EDIT: This is the original article I read a while back. I found it VERY interesting: http://www.vintagecomputing.com/index.php/archives/189

As the incidence of yellowing thankfully hasn't yet affected the retro systems I have, i.e. Dreamcast, Japanese Saturn and PC Engine Duo-R, then I should be okay - if it hasn't happened by now I'm guessing it's not likely to happen at all. My Wii is one of the white case models but I'd have thought companies such as Nintendo would these days be using different chemical compounds in the plastics so they don't oxidise like they once used to.

As there's no chance in hell that something so vulgar as NES or as childish as SNES will ever darken my door it seems safe to say I can rest easy. *

Therefore, I posted the thread for the potential benefit of others here.

* if my Amstrad GX4000 should ever turn yellow then I won't really give a damn! laugh.gif

I just did a 1050 drive this week. I'm using regular 40 vol creme developer which I purchased from a local Sally beauty salon. It was around $18 for a 32 ounce bottle. This stuff is unbelievable dangerous. Instant blindness if it gets near your eyes (it does to your eye what cooking does to the whites of an egg) and it leaves nasty chemical burns on any exposed skin within seconds. Be careful if you mess with the stuff - rubber gloves and a face shield are a must.

After (this is with about 3.5 hours indirect sunlight and 4 applications of the gel, cleaning all the old off in between applications):

Yeah, we in the Commodore 64 community are loving the stuff. It really has helped out quite a few of us since the stuff has boon released. I need to get some so I can do my Amiga system. It's yellowed a bit and the stuff works like a dream.

Your reasonings are the reason why I'm here. This has proven again and again to be probably one of the last "safe harbors" from BS of any videogaming board I've ever frequented. JSII is quite simply awesome. - Vanadium 8/24/05

I just noticed the shoulder buttons on my white Nintendo DS Lite have suffered from noticeable yellowing too.
