Anyone remember the Dreamcast game Hydro Thunder (which was an Arcade conversion)? While i'm quite a DC fan i have never played this game on the DC until last week. I was surprised by the amount of fans that this game has so wrote my XBLA 'updated' version of the game (Hydro Thunder Hurricane) as a DC retrospective comparison. I have started a thread on xbox.com about it asking for Dreamcast fans to see what they think of this version. There's some good feedback/responses on it (apart from a stupid troll) and i have received PM's on other Dreamcast related topics from it ( (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ), and now i'd like to get JSII's opinion's (DreamR i'm looking at you (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) )!

Here's my review up on the site:

Serby's Hydro Thunder review

While i am no big fan of waterbased racers, i was surprised at how much i got into this game, both on the Dreamcast as well as the new XBLA incarnation.

I'M QUITE THE FAN...
of Hydro Thunder on DC/N64 myself. I love it! But then, I do have a massive soft-spot for Midways cheesy arcade games (SFRush series, Cruis'n USA etc) - or did Midway ONLY publish the Rush series, as they may have been Atari games(?).

Anyway, HThunders great and I would really love to play the XBLA incarnation, however, I have a PS3 so... that's that I guess! Still, at least I can go play H2Overdrive at my local arcade - a game which also demands a port! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rockon.gif)

It's interesting that after Wave Race on the N64 there never was a waterracing game again into which I got.
I played that one for hours and although the games after that may have looked better and whatever, they never appealed to me.
Played the Demo of Hydrothunder yesterday. Played a race, played a round of slalom, got bored, deleted the demo...

The DC conversion of Hydro Thunder was a very respectable effort especially considering it was a (PAL) launch title. The only downer would be the fact it was one of the few quality DC titles that wasn't VGA-compatible.

I can honestly say that Hydro Thunder on the Dreamcast is easily one of my favorites for the system. Excellent game. Oh, and screw the troll!

Is it out?! Man, I want it...
My stupid xbox is packed up for the trip. I'll grab it when I get unpacked and set up.

Once I get the 4000 point card I ordered this will be one of the first things I download. I tried the demo and loved it. Just as fun as the original.
