Here's what Glenn posted:
When you first turn on the Jaguar with the cart installed and cable connected you will get a black screen. There's a signal that is used on the parallel port to hold the Jaguar in a reset condition until the Flash software raises this signal to a 5 Volt or logic high level. Hmm. I get a dark green screen followed by a lighter green color after a few seconds. Just like when you try to upload a file to the Stub- then realize you forgot to turn it on. Seriously, it's exactly like that. If this screen isn't correct, can someone tell me what is wrong? If it is correct, I've left it 'powered up' for up to ten minutes waiting for the "Flash software to raise this signal to a 5 Volt or logic high level." Nothing happens. No prompt, nada. What to do? Next paragraph from Glenn: Now the next part depends on your Jaguar configuration: 1. If using a normal un-modded Jaguar, then you just need to hold button 3 down on controller 1 and continue with the Flash software by pressing the spacebar (you will see the message from the software on your PC display). I'm using the production Jaguar so do I hold down the 3 key while powering on the Jaguar or do I wait for the prompt? -------------------- JSII always has your back. -Jaysmith2000 3/8/05

Your environmental variables should be setup for a path to the BIN subdirectory. If this isn't the case and you don't want to deal with it, but you really want to load this game NOW, simply copy the Flash.com file to whatever directory your game is in. Go to that directory and type: FLASH GAME.ROM -p0 (or 1 or 2 depending on where your parallel is) That should do it. Also, if the ROM has a header you'll need to load it to $800000 by using -d800000 on the above command line. Let us know if you get it working! -------------------- He has always wanted to control everything. Sadly he can't even control himself. - Anonymous 10/4/09

You're ok dude. After you type in the command I put above it will tell you to hold down the 3 key. So yes, wait for the prompt. That should do the trick for you. Just plug that sucker in, turn it on, enter the flash command, wait for the prompt and hit 3. You'll be golden. -------------------- He has always wanted to control everything. It worked!
I put a copy of Flash.com inside C:\Jaguar\Demos and typed: cd \jaguar\demos cd \jaguar\demos>flash game.rom -p1 -d8000000 It prompted to hold 3 and said hit any key to continue. I hit the spacebar. It went to the yellowish erasing screen and erased the game! I watched the DOS screen as the bytes increased loading the new ROM, then the TV screen went to a blue "Success" screen and the game started! Awesome. Thanks Jaysmith. This rocks! Now I have a solid technique to do this anytime! -------------------- JSII always has your back. -Jaysmith2000 3/8/05

Are .rom files the only ones that can be uploaded to a Flash?
I have several different extensions in my library and before I go expirementing any further, I wanted to ask. -------------------- JSII always has your back. -Jaysmith2000 3/8/05

No, you may have a .bin file or even a .jag in some cases. It all depends on what it was saved as. Typically they are saved as .rom, but not always. They have a tendancy to get "renamed" over the years too. I've found binaries renamed to .jjj and shit like that.... Just look for the 2mb or 4mb size, those help give it away if you're searching an Atari drive or something like that... Glad you got it to work, you must be having a fun "Jaggy" day! -------------------- He has always wanted to control everything. Sadly he can't even control himself. - Anonymous 10/4/09

I started a while back a gui frontend for the flash.com program, but I haven’t finished it yet.
Nothing fancy, just a patch for windows 2000/xp so you can flash it in windows and a file selector really.... oh it has a database for roms which have manual pages, box images and screen shots. -------------------- |

That's awesome OMF! This is something many folks on here have asked for in the past! If you get it finished and want to share feel free. Cool stuff indeed! -------------------- He has always wanted to control everything. Sadly he can't even control himself. - Anonymous 10/4/09

QUOTE(Thunderbird @ May 16 2006, 09:18 AM) That should make life easier! Does someone know if all the rom listed in 1st pic are protos or homebrew only ? I mean, are some protos of AVP, Atari Karts, and Attack of the mutants penguins available, or can people find rom of final games over the net (which would be bad). I know that some owner of alpine have protos of Super Burnout (as we compared rendering of proto and final version with FrediFredo in JC2K4) -------------------- Si tu veux tuer ton chien, accuse le d'avoir la rage...

QUOTE(the FROG @ Sep 28 2006, 02:51 PM) Any Atari released/owned games are Public domain at this point. I allways have a problem of understanding with "Any" (as it can be the word in french than every)... And if I put your sentence in a (bad) automatic translator, It says something like "Every atari games is public domain" I guess (at a level of confidence of 90%) that you mean : No Atari games is Public domain ? -------------------- Si tu veux tuer ton chien, accuse le d'avoir la rage...

OK, I didn't know that Atari-made games were in public domain.
I thought they were still copyrighted. There was no relation to 3rd-party editors in my question in fact. Just on the interpretation of "Any" (which I badly interpret, it seems) -------------------- Si tu veux tuer ton chien, accuse le d'avoir la rage...
