Cool website find! It is cool to see people use the Jaguar as part of a senior design project in school. The Jag as so much to offer, especially with education on game system architecture, programming environment, processor management, hardware interface/design and especially learning to work with a system that has hardware bugs.

Yeah its a very interesting read. One of his reasons for studying the Jaguar:
QUOTE This being my first post regarding this project it seems appropriate to first discuss my goals, motivations, and guidelines for this project. My motivation for this project is two fold. ... Programming predominately for a PC, using high level languages such as C++, Python, and Java, and having resources such as countless libraries, convenience functions, and a full featured operating system had left me with a lack of understanding as to how exactly code, assets, and content were loaded and utilized on these machines. Reminds me of what Carmack said how he wished modern programmers would have the experience of having to dig into the hardware a bit instead of being insulated from it. I remember John Harris (programmer on the 8bit Atari who did Jawbreaker and Frogger) commented at CGE that programming on the GameBoy was a fun experience. He enjoyed the challenge of working in a memory restricted environment and had to squeeze out the performance in his code. It reminded him of what he had to work with when he was programming on the Atari 800.

Sam says he tried to post here the other day when he renewed his account. Apparently it expired or somesuch due to non use.
He re-registered and is having trouble posting. Are new registrations now subject to moderator review and approval? |

btw, thanks to all you guys for taking interest in my site and special thanks to JagChris for helping to get my account active. I'm not gonna lie, I was pleasantly surprised to see the jaguar homebrew community so active this week. After my project last year I had not looked at any of the jaguar dev community forums in earnest. I figured there would be a few projects being worked on and not much else. Seeing someone doing a school project, someone else modding their jag for 1080p output, and still others asking about where to get hardware for their jags is really inspiring. I'm definitely going to be keeping closer tabs on the Jaguar Sector II forums.
Once time allows and I resume my Jag work I will definitely post updates here. Thanks again everyone and cheers! |

I think this is one of the most active retro console communitys for early-mid 90s consoles. We do have quite a bit of stuff going on. Not just hardware wise. |
