Checking to see how many People there are that still play the NEC brand.

And also if there are any news of Home Brew games. I know of 2 that are currently out on the market.

I have a Turbo-Grafx w/CD and a TurboDuo. I've never played the TurboDuo (it's brand new so I don't want to open it), but I play the Grafx every now and then. Great little system!

Your reasonings are the reason why I'm here. This has proven again and again to be probably one of the last "safe harbors" from BS of any videogaming board I've ever frequented. JSII is quite simply awesome. - Vanadium 8/24/05

I recently bought a new TG16. I've had a Turbo Express for years but, even though it's a great portable, it's just not the same as playing these games on a television.

The TG16 was one of the few consoles I bought right after launch but ended up trading it in when I saw the awesomeness of the Sega Genesis. I couldn't afford both consoles at the same time or else I would have kept my TG16. I was very happy when I bought another brand new TG16 late last year.

I've been playing Splatterhouse and Super Star Soldier among others. I recently bought a ton of games that I haven't had a chance to play yet. I know some are not that great but I thought what the hell.

Victory Run
Bonk's Revenge
Cadash (PCE version)
Air Zonk
Battle Royal
Out Run (PCE)
Final Lap Twin
Rastan Saga 2 (PCE)
Fighting Street (CD)
Last Alert (CD)
Dracula X (CD)

I recently bought a bunch of CD software (as you can see above) so now I gotta look for a DUO or a CD attachment!

I'll also need to learn about all these Arcade cards and Super CD cards. I have no clue what type of card is needed to play specific games.

The Super CD card or Version 3.01 is used to play the Super CD type games. Like Loom, Dragon Slayer, etc...

The Arcade card only came out in Japan. You will need a converter to use it on the US models. There are 2 models, Arcade Duo (for turbo duo) and Arcade Pro (For Regular TG16). The games that came out for the Arcade card are Art of Fighting, and some other Neo Geo games.

How is the PC-FX? When I first read about it back in 93-94, I wanted it to come to the US so bad. But then NEC/TI fell under.

So there are 3 types of CD games for the Turbografx and Duo?

1) Regular CD games
2) Super CD games
3) Arcade CD games

wacko.gif

I'm not sure if I should get a Turbo Duo or just buy a CD attachment for my Turbo. I'm leaning toward a Duo but they are damn expensive!

Battle Heat is the closest to a game in english, but that's just because it's a fighting game and fairly straight foward. I'll have to check on the other games and get back to you.

It will be cheaper to get the CD Hookup, but the Turbo Duo is a very nice machine. The CD load up time is Seconds, not min.

NEC was way ahead of the curve in game systems. Wish they didn't drop out of the race.

tongue.gif A great Option to the system, for the time being, is to buy a copy of Magic Engine. It plays The Turbo graphix CD's, and Super CD's with no problem. Not sure if it plays any of the arcade CD's.

I also have Anime Freak Vol. 1, Team Innocent, Graduation: Neo Generation, and Angelique Special. This is a great PC-FX website, including language rankings (how Japanese intensive the games are) and some English walkthroughs for games.

I still got my "Turbo Express", but I haven't really taken any time to buy
any games for it. When I bought it from a local fleamarket for less then
$30, that bad boy was still sealed in plastic with shrink-wrapped NEC AA
batteries and all. jsiicheers.gif
