Man, I actually love the effects in the original TR. It was right before CGI took over so they actually used real plastic. It adds to the movie IMO.

Edit: directed at ur bro-in-law... not you smile.gif

Yeah I got that. And I agree with you. smile.gif

And I missing anything? Did not the three boob woman in the new TR have no context in this movie?

Total ReMake was a piece of crap. One of the worst movies of the year and it shows in the ticket returns. People didn't care because we knew it would suck. I watched it once and will never watch it again. AND people that try and rationalize the reason they saw it was because it was more like the story Phillip K Dick wrote, well they are full of Shit too because they obviously never read it. Sorry, Total Recall is easily one of his best stories and a big favorite of mine.

I have to disagree with the attendance and ticket sales perspective. My brother wanted to see it and I knew a couple other people who wanted to see it in the theater, just for curiousity's sake. They wanted to watch Arnold's version first or they had jobs they couldn't schedule around, and if people did that they missed the opportunity to see it in the theater! I don't remember how long it lasted, but it was short. Too short. We had to call to see if it was going to be here because they weren't listing it as being shown. It was not in theaters the Friday after I saw it. It may have been the day after I saw it.

I know that thieves are downloading movies more and more...and it shows in ALL the media available to us now.

I have seen Total Recall in the cinema and was satisfied.

Then I rented it 2 days ago and liked it even more. I`m not sure what you guys expected from it, but it was a pretty atmospheric rollercoaster with some pretty neat ideas. I certainly didn`t expect any indie stuff. I liked the Arnie version too, although original version seems like a kids-movie these days...

What`s weird, I rented Judge Dredd two days ago and can`t seem to get it off my mind and want to see it again and again. Did you guys like it ? I totally expected it to be a shitty movie (and it certainly is a B/C-grade rental movie - I`m not gonna fight about that - especially compared to Total Recall), yet it has something Expendables-style in it smile.gif

The new Judge Dredd is awesome.

The new Total Recall is crap. Its a bunch of new special effects and thats about it. And Kate Beckinsale. The ending was rather blah compared to the first. Actually all the movie really had was new special effects and thats it. The story wasn't as involving or as well done as the first. 3 boob woman in the new one has no context. Its a slopped together remake.

The new Judge Dredd was WAY better than the new Total Recall.

The new Total Recall did tie in his job to the story line better and the girl at the security check was clever, except that they already showed the ID badges of his character and they changed Arnold's job from the script to fit his physique, I believe.

When I bought Total Recall and Beverly Hills Cop together, they share an actor... and the original definitely had seasoned actors.

FINALLY saw this... NO1 GOES TO MARS!?

The fact Quaid already lived in the colony (aka Australia) was interesting... but I needed Mars! Overall not a bad action flick & I liked the nods @ original.

My girlfriend actually fell asleep in the cinema during that hugely protracted action sequence at the end! Such a tedious, cliche ridden, effects focused set of end scenes, reminded me a lot of that ludicrous bit in Independence Day where the dog jumps out of the way of the fireball, it just lost all impact for us.
